Lori jumped into endurance sports on her 40th birthday by cycling across the state of Iowa. From those not so humble beginnings she learned to swim, completing her first Ironman at the age of 52. This perpetual instigator got his start in competitive motocross racing. In college he stuck with two wheels but increased his motor skills as an asset to his school’s competitive cycling team. While currently focused on earning XTERRA points in off-road triathlons, Matt can be found encouraging extra laps at early morning track runs and chasing down breakaways on club rides.
The fire burns deep. Obstacles are challenges to be overcome, excuses are crutches to be shed and suggestions are calls to be answered. Keeping her competitive spirit reined in while off the course and greeting each day as it is are the true tasks. Alex’s favorite training spot is Palm Desert Aquatic Center on a sunny, SoCal day.
Nate raced his first triathlon on his 30th birthday as way to launch a dramatic change in an otherwise unhealthy lifestyle. What started as a desire to be a better leader to his family, and set a strong example for his children, quickly developed into a passion for all aspects of the sport, as well as a desire to promote a healthful lifestyle in his community. As he grew his own abilities in the sport, the need for a thriving triathlon club in the Coachella Valley became ever apparent, and so with the help of some great friends, he set out to launch the Salton Sea Triathlon Club. The rest is pure, magnificent, Dead Fish history!
